What You Will Learn
Week 1: 2 hours- The first step to recovery is understanding your "frienemy" - sugar. In today's class, you will learn why you are personally addicted to sugar and the emotional complications. You'll also gain understanding of the role anxiety plays in eating and your "stress type" as it relates to self destructive eating. Is there something instinctual, primitive and biological drawing you to sugar? You'll gain understanding about the animal instinct that you fight each day to keep your calorie intake at bay. But most importantly, you'll meet other struggling friends who are tired of having food dictate their lives and how they feel about themselves.
Week 2: 2 hours- In order for any of us to rationalize poor decisions, we need to tell ourselves lies. In this class, you will learn the "thinking errors of sugar indulgence" and how to restructure this negative thought pattern. In week 4 you will learn what core beliefs fuel your thoughts. In week 6, you'll learn to change the habits that have been created by these thoughts.
Week 3: 2 hours- You already know that emotions can affect your eating. Who hasn't buried their sorrows in a pint of Ben and Jerry's? But did you know that your eating can affect your emotions? In this class you will first learn the "ABC's" of emotions. You'll learn how to use your emotions for their intended purposes and then move on.
Week 4: 2 hours- In this week, you will begin to understand how core issues can fuel the choices you make everyday. Begin learning what your internal script says about you and how to change it.
Week 5: 2 hours- One of the biggest reasons we struggle with eating is the social aspect. No one wants to be the person who turns down cake at the party. In this class, you will learn about the social implications of eating and how it impacts your choices. Yes, enjoy good food in good company and learn to build in markers of when to let yourself indulge. Learn the connection between acceptance and sugar and how accepting yourself can end this cycle.
Week 6: 2 hours- The final wrap up. Review and have your personal plan in place.
Each class will include instruction, the opportunity to gain personal insight into your sugar habits, and concrete tools to help you conquer your addiction.
