Hi, I’m Kristen Gregson, the recovering sugar addict behind Sweet Addictions. My husband, Jeff, is the clinical therapist. My entire life, I’ve struggled with my weight and issues with food. More specifically, sugar. In the past, I've tried to “be good” with my eating, exercised faithfully, and enjoyed brief moments of success. But these moments were fleeting and the weight always came back because of my addiction to the sweet stuff. Sugar is everywhere. It's acceptable, accessible, even celebrated and, socially, we make light of our addiction to it. In the summer of 2016, on one of our weekly morning hikes, Jeff and I were talking about how trainers and nutritionists are out there to help people like me but nobody is getting to the root of the problem – the emotions behind eating and how to kick the habit and insatiable need for sugar. It was at that moment, on that mountainside, that Sweet Addictions was born. Jeff has worked as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor for more than 20 years and has specialized in the areas of anxiety and depression. He has a passion for the outdoors and living a healthy lifestyle. He has also had a front row view of what damage sugar can cause to a person physically, mentally, and emotionally as he’s watched me for 23+ years. Together, we’ve developed a program that has allowed me, once and for all, to conquer my addiction and no longer allow sugar to have a stifling hold on me. I’ve overcome sugar, my biggest vice, by overcoming my emotional, mental, and physical dependency on it. The freedom it has afforded me has been more liberating than I ever could have imagined. If I can conquer it, anyone can conquer it. Together, we look forward to helping others along the same path of success.
